Babalwa Siswana
Babalwa Siswana is a Researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), BRICS Research Centre (BRC), in the Democracy, Governance, and Service Delivery (DGSD) Unit. Her research specialisation is in Micro and Macroeconomics, Econometrics and International Trade. She is currently involved in several projects including development finance in BRICS and emerging and developing economies in Africa to address unemployment, poverty and inequality, and international trade and investment dynamics in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Babalwa previously worked at Fresh Thinking Capital as a researcher and as an intern at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) where she participated in policy development. She also worked as a tutor at University of Fort Hare (UFH). She is a PhD Candidate in Economics at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) and holds a Master of Commerce Degree specialising in Economics at UFH.
