Mercator Dialogue on Migration and Asylum (MEDAM)
The Mercator Dialogue on Migration and Asylum (MEDAM) is a three-year research and consultation project identifying challenges and drawing up action strategies for asylum and migration-related policies in the EU and its member states.
Through MEDAM, researchers work with policy-makers and civil society in addressing the most relevant research questions and pressing concerns of policy makers. The core research partners in MEDAM are the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), the Migration Policy Centre (MPC) at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, and the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), a Brussels think tank.
MEDAM’s research focusses on economic issues in three broad areas:
- EU asylum and migration policies;
- the economic and social integration of immigrants and their contribution to EU prosperity;
- the impact of migration on countries of origin and countries of first asylum.
The project is at the interface between academic research and policymaking. Both, rigorous research and a regular dialogue with decision-makers at national and European levels through a variety of formats are central elements of the project.
The Mercator Dialogue on Asylum and Migration (MEDAM) is funded by Stiftung Mercator.
